Chess is a board game played by two players against each other with 16 pieces each, the goal is to capture the other player's king piece. All pieces have their own moves, like Knights move in a pattern that looks like 'L' while Rooks shoot straight.
I learned to play chess from my father when I was a kid, used to play it a few times in the year. But recently in the lockdown due to coronavirus (hence nothing to do), It caught my attention and I started learning It from Youtube. I was amazed to see so many Tricks, Gambits, Opening that were Predefines, I learned a few of them over a course of a week and then played chess online for a month an hour a day. I fought for a 600 Elo rating.
I learned the King's Indian Defense Opening and played it a lot gradually I realized that one could play really well just by memorizing all the moves and different lines of an opening. There were literal chess databases where you could see the best response to the move your opponent played. Your creativity played a big role as well but the impression I had about chess was gone.
Learning chess taught me a very clear lesson, before I learned more about chess from youtube I had a stupid impression in my mind about chess, and that People may have too, It was that chess needs a person to be intelligent to play. I thought of a player good at chess as a genius. But after learning the fact that there are Predefined moves and tactics, strategies, openings, I realized that the moves good players might play may not be their own imagination and creativity but someone else's that they learned and practiced.
The lesson I learned was that Life is similar to chess You could either try to make all moves on your own and struggle and suffer or choose to read and learn from books the teachings from many great personalities to make your life a WIN.
This was my complete Experience learning chess and a lesson from it in one small article.
Thank You for reading
